My Purpose
Hello, my name is DJ and I like to write code. I've been doing that since I was 12 years old and I started out with PHP. Now I could go on about how I hate PHP, but I hate how done to death that is equally as much. I've learned a lot of languages before I started school, but once I learned C I couldn't get myself to use anything else, and now I feel like I'm kind of stuck with it.
I spend a lot of time outside of my work and school on personal projects, and I spend even more time on my hobbies because those personal projects are probably my main hobby. Outside of that, I love to collect games I like, and I especially love collecting CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) televisions and monitors. I grew up using them and I've always thought they had a unqiue charm.
My Identity
I'm years old and non-binary, and if I had to describe myself simply I'd say that despite the fact I communicate in a straightforward manner most of the time my thought process is anything but, and I'm always thinking about and looking for better ways to do things. I love programming because that's what it's all about at the end of the day, we're all just looking for better solutions to most of the same problems.
My work to me isn't just a means to an end it's something I'm passionate about, especially my programming work. I'm against the emergence of low effort "vibe-coded" projects, and I've been writing code for well longer than LLMs could form a sentence. I don't feel that being "anti-AI" is part of my identity, but rather that putting passion into your work is, and AI has allowed that to dwindle in spaces I inhabit.
I love cats but I tragically don't own any, because I live in a dangerous area and my family has dogs which need a dog door to go out back. Instead I'll include some of my favorite cat images at the bottom of this page.
